Humans Are Not Vermin

Letter sent to the IHT-

Dear Editors

So you’ve finally realized there’s a set of simple innovations that could save the lives of millions right now, help the environment and perhaps even slow down global warming (see John Tierney’s “A renegade climate idea that could work“, IHT, Jan 18, 2012).

The fact that those actions have been neglected thus far because of lack of “glamour” and an obsession with cutting carbon dioxide emissions tells everything one needs to know about the inhumanity sadly intrinsic to many environmental activist organizations.

Humans are not vermin. Children dying as we speak because of black carbon filling their lungs in windowless huts are not trade-offs to sacrifice in a fight to convince the world to use fewer SUVs.

Prof Roger Pielke Jr’s “iron law of climate policy” says CO2 emission cuts policies always lose against economic growth pushes. Such a rule ought to be expanded : because we’re humans, and we should remember our humanity. Therefore policies that save human lives have to take precedence over attempts at defining global environment-related treaties. Always.

China is ‘competing’ via the use of slave labor (extremely poorly ‘paid’, minimum possible ‘wastage’ on infrastructure spending (including hospitals etc), shot dead if you raise your eyes), and also by re-rerouting massive amounts (nearly all) of its income to selected industries.

All for the single purpose of destroying industries elsewhere in the world, and relocating them in China. The rest of the world, then producing nothing, are possessed of nothing of value. And so the work of preceding generations, having taken generations to complete, having led to the wealth we Westerners know now, will be OBLITERATED.

‘Free Trade’ cannot, ever, work when faced with this sort of inequality between nations. And pretty much everyone knows this.

So. China is not a success story, it is a HORROR story. The story of the tearing downwards of the whole world, into an ocean of poverty. After which China will be king of a world filled with beggars. Oh, and with a military might that NONE will be able to withstand. And they will have no problem using nuclear weapons to illustrate their mastery.

Yes, in China (as in Russia, India, N.Korea, and pretty much wherever socialism rules) children die in abject miseries. Miseries due to a thing called poverty (if you do not know this is so, then go read). The kind of poverty where the victims will NEVER have a voice, since they are ruled by dictators.

The enemy of the West is the political class (which includes the Media, the lawmakers, etc), as well as the elites: but above all the Humanist_leftist_socialist ideology of the hippies (which is their greatest weapon). They will still be kings. And your children will learn all about being powerless, all about being a nothing in a world that crushes with mindless violence.

May your children spit on your graves. It would be the right thing for them to do.

CB Where do you get your information from?

For your information China is emerging from the depths of a horrifying collective society to a modern free market almost democracy.

For instance in 1960 during the height of all this, approx 60 mil people died of starvation because of buraecratic bungling. Nowaday most of Chinese can put sufficient food on the table, and soon they will be better off on average than the west including the US.
The things you say about China are simply generally not true anymore.

How do I know all this? Well I have relatives who live there now and went through the 50’s til present.

Currently the west is sliding into socialism. That is heading towards where China recently came from. Chinese people having been there wont let that happen to China again. But we are foolish and are blind to the dangers.

If China dominates us in any way it will because of our blindness and foolishness.

“The enemy of the West is the political class (which includes the Media, the lawmakers, etc), as well as the elites: but above all the Humanist_leftist_socialist ideology of the hippies (which is their greatest weapon). .

Strong but I have to agree. Not sure about the kings though:)

      Cheers

I agree that human need, especially in the third world, are a high priority whereas climate change is a natural process driven by many natural inputs not least being the sun. The stupidity of trying to better natural cycles knows no bounds and costs money that would be better spent.
